Diagnostics

The daily ENT examination places special demands on the doctor and the technology. Whether it's eardrum inspection, nasal endoscopy, or throat examination: only those who truly see can make a reliable diagnosis. A high-quality examination microscope makes a crucial difference. It transforms the routine examination into a precise diagnostic process, where even the slightest changes are immediately noticeable.

Why Magnification is Indispensable in ENT Diagnostics

Every minute counts in ENT practice. Patients come in with earache, blocked nose, or sore throat, expecting swift answers. Therefore, an examination microscope needs to be one thing above all: ready for immediate use. With just one simple move into position, it delivers crystal-clear images in natural colours. The enlarged view reveals details hidden to the naked eye: redness of the eardrum, developing perforations, or subtle mucous membrane changes.

The value of good optics becomes particularly apparent in otoscopy. The eardrum is only a few millimetres in size, yet its condition reveals much about the state of the middle ear. With a Karl Kaps examination microscope, you can detect retraction, effusions, or signs of cholesteatoma early and reliably. The homogeneous illumination ensures no areas fall into shadow.

Quick Positioning

With just one move, the microscope is in the correct position. No complicated settings, no time wasted between patients.

Effortless Working

The ergonomic design allows for an upright sitting posture. Even after a long day in practice, neck and back remain relaxed.

Natural Colour Rendering

The apochromatic optics show tissue as it truly appears. Redness, discolourations, and vascular markings appear in natural colours.

Future-Proof

The modular system allows for future expansions. Documentation needs changing? No problem, the camera adapters can be fitted at any time.

Economical

LED lighting means minimal operating costs. No lamp replacement, no energy guzzler, no surprises in the service charge billing.

SDM Series (SDM 20 / SDM 60)

The SDM is the ideal entry-level microscope for ENT practices. The 3-step magnification changer allows quick switching between overview and detailed view. The LEDone lighting provides daylight quality with a lifespan of approximately 30,000 hours, making it virtually maintenance-free. The SDM 20 is available as a wall mount, while the SDM 60 comes on a mobile rolling stand. Both versions are characterised by their compact design and fit into any examination room.

Technical specifications of SDM:

  • Magnification: 3-step apochromatic changer

  • Lighting: LEDone, daylight quality, approx. 30,000 hours lifespan

  • Objectives: f=200mm, 250mm, 300mm, 400mm (interchangeable)

  • Eyepieces: Eyeglass-wearer eyepieces WF 12.5x or 10x with dioptre adjustment

  • Optional: Manual fine focus 40mm

SOM 22 / SOM 32 / SOM 62

If you require more flexibility, opt for the SOM series. With 3x or 5x magnification changer and the option for a manual 1:6 zoom, this series covers a wide range. The models primarily differ in mounting: SOM 22 for wall, SOM 32 for ceiling, SOM 62 on the mobile stand. All three can be upgraded with photo and video accessories, adapting to the demands of practice.

Technical specifications SOM 22/32/62:
