Reliable precision for everyday eye surgery

The SOM® 62 Ophthal Basic is the optimal basic surgical microscope for ophthalmological examinations and cataract surgery. Developed for outpatient surgery centers and smaller clinics, it combines proven technology with outstanding optical quality. The apochromatic 5-step magnification changer (4.0 – 24.8x) guarantees brilliant, high-contrast images.

The 15V/150W coaxial cold light illumination with integrated UV filter and swiveling retinal protection filter GG 475 generates a stable red reflex for safe procedures. The motorized fine focus (40 mm) is controlled by a foot switch, so both hands remain free. The compact design and the 60° inclined wide-angle binocular tube with eyeglass wearer eyepieces ensure ergonomic working. The modular system concept allows subsequent expansions with documentation solutions and assistance systems.

Over 75 years With an eye for detail

The extraordinary precision and attention to detail characterize every Kaps Optik project – a quality that customers and partners around the world appreciate.

The know-how that has grown over 75 years flows into every tailor-made solution, regardless of whether it is a local or international project.

Uninterrupted operation

An integrated backup lamp is available for uninterrupted operation. The integrated tilt switch enables switching on and off after reaching the working position.

Stable fundus reflex (red reflex)

The 15 V/150 Watt coaxial fiber optic illumination with permanently installed UV filter and swiveling retina protection filter GG 475 enables a bright red reflex and offers maximum protection for the patient’s eye.

Documentation

Various stereo co-observer devices are available for documentation, teaching situations or collaboration with an assistant. Or connect a video camera in conjunction with a TFT monitor to document your findings.

Sterility

Keep your microscope completely sterile by using asepsis caps and drapes on the controls.

Apochromatic 5-step magnification changer

Delivers razor-sharp, high-contrast images with excellent depth of field (4.0x–24.8x magnification). Optionally expandable with a manual 1:6 zoom for flexible adaptation to different procedures.

Coaxial cold light illumination with red reflex technology

15 V/150 W illumination with integrated UV filter and retinal protection filter GG 475 for a bright, high-contrast red reflex. Protects the patient’s eye from harmful radiation and enables precise visualization of the retinal layers.
