Since our founding on 1 April 1946, Karl Kaps GmbH & Co. KG has represented precision, innovation, and quality 'Made in Germany'. What began with the manufacture of parts for cinema projectors has developed over the decades into a globally recognised high-tech company. Our headquarters in Aßlar near Wetzlar is the centre of our production and innovation.
Our company is now family-run in the third generation. We use the latest technologies and closely collaborate with international experts to develop products that meet the highest standards. With a global dealer network, we are present in over 100 countries.
Today, we specialise in the core areas of medical technology, as well as sports and hunting optics.
From the cinema screen to the operating theatre
Aßlar near Wetzlar is the heart of our company and a symbol of uncompromising quality. Karl Kaps is deeply rooted in the region. Many employees continue a family tradition that has been associated with Kaps across generations. This commitment is reflected in the precision and reliability of our products. In the post-war years, Karl Kaps laid the foundation for the company. Initially, the focus was on manufacturing precision parts for the then booming cinema industry.
By starting the production of telescopic sights, Karl Kaps tapped into a new market. This decision marked the beginning of the company's successful development in the hunting and sports optics sector.
A pivotal moment in the company's history: Karl Kaps unveiled the first prototype of a surgical microscope. This marked the beginning of the successful development and production of medical technology products.
Leading a family business with over 75 years of tradition is naturally a challenge, especially in these demanding times. However, turning challenges into promising opportunities has always been part of the family's tradition.
